At SunDaze, we use two high-performance recycled fabrics for our swimwear: ECONYL® and REPREVE®. Both are made from recycled materials and designed to perform in and out of the water.

ECONYL®

Our Bali-made swimwear uses Carvico Vita fabric, produced by Carvico, an Italian textile company known for its commitment to sustainable practices. At the heart of this fabric lies ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon fibre produced by collecting and regenerating discarded nylon waste such as fishing nets, carpet flooring and industrial plastics. By giving these materials a second life, we prevent them from polluting our planet and conserve resources that would otherwise be required for the production of virgin nylon.

Why ECONYL®?

• Reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with material from oil
• Exceptional elasticity, durability and resistance to chlorine, sun exposure and abrasion
• Quick-drying for optimal comfort in and out of the water

REPREVE®

Our newest swimwear styles are made using REPREVE® recycled performance fabric, crafted from post-consumer plastic bottles. REPREVE® is one of the world's most trusted recycled performance fibres, used by leading brands globally.

Why REPREVE®?

• Made from recycled plastic bottles, keeping waste out of landfill and oceans
• UPF 50+ sun protection
• Resistant to chlorine, oil, sun cream and pilling
• Retains stretch and shape wash after wash

Limitations

Despite being much more sustainable than conventional nylon, both fabrics are still plastic. During their lifetime, microplastics can still be released when washed and the fabric cannot break down on its own.

OEKO-TEX® Certified Dyes

We use OEKO-TEX® certified dyes for our prints. This means those vibrant colours stay bold for much longer. Though some fading can happen from sun exposure over time, our careful dye selection keeps the print looking beautiful season after season. Our OEKO-TEX® certified dyes have been scientifically tested for the presence of harmful substances and are a better and safer choice for your health.

Care

We recommend to hand wash your surf and swimwear items as cold and gentle as possible. Only machine wash if absolutely necessary.

Take extra care when washing off wax from surf wear, it can be difficult to wash off when it builds up. You can lightly rub some coconut oil on the wax to remove it if this does happen.

Don't forget to wash the hardware or zipper if your garment has one to remove any salt and avoid tarnishing.

Lay your items flat to dry in the shade. We recommend to do this with the inside out, just in case any sun does reach your shady spot.

Please note that the print may fade with time depending on the frequency of use and exposure to UV.
